Fostering Stronger Investment Partnerships Between Uganda and the Netherlands

Yesterday, we were delighted to be hosted by the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU) for a highly productive engagement with NUTIP_ Kampala. The session reinforced our shared commitment to fostering a transparent, responsive, and investor-friendly business environment in Uganda

Embassy Remarks: H.E. Bouwe-Jan Smeding, Deputy Ambassador of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Uganda, thanked SHIPU for organizing the meeting and emphasized that the Netherlands is the largest source of FDI in Uganda. He reiterated that businesses thrive when stakeholders understand proper procedures and reaffirmed the Netherlands’ commitment to Uganda’s economic development.

NUTIP Updates: Our Board Member, Isaac Mugerwa, highlighted NUTIP’s growth of over 75 members and praised SHIPU for swiftly resolving a long-standing member issue, as well as their commitment to improving the investor climate in Uganda.

Investor Perspective: Eric de Vaan, CEO of Yalelo Uganda, emphasized Uganda’s stability and strong currency, reinforcing its attractiveness for investment.

Electronic Investors Protection Portal (EIPP): State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU) presented this one-stop digital platform that facilitates investor inquiries and complaints, strengthens accountability, and links over 20 MDAs. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/dhtN__tV

Members raised queries on SHIPU’s mandate, investor protection, taxation, land and zoning, sustainability, governance, and sector-specific support, all of which were addressed with clear and constructive responses.
