



On April 24, 2025, the AmCham Uganda, in collaboration with key partners including the French Chamber of Commerce Uganda – FCCU, the British Chamber of Commerce Uganda, NUTIP_ Kampala, and Ernst & Young (EY) presented vital policy recommendations aimed at enhancing the business environment in Uganda for the fiscal year 2025/2026. These recommendations were formally submitted to the Parliament of Uganda reflecting a concerted effort to foster a more conducive environment for business growth and investment in the country.

Tax Disputes: Advocate for clear timelines and reduced audits to build trust and predictability.
Non-Tariff Barriers (NTBs): Propose harmonization with East African Community (EAC) countries and the creation of a dedicated task force for efficient resolution.
Infrastructure: Address critical infrastructure gaps to support business growth.
Proposed Tax Amendments: Extend the tax exemption period for startups from three to five years for better sustainability.
